Okay

I would really like to serve and I have a decent amount of questions I was hoping someone could help me with. I really dont want to talk to a recruiter that much until Ive pretty much made up mine mind because I dont want my phone to blow up. Lets see...

I can swim really well but I was wondering if during boot camp you would have to dive to depths often. And if so what depths. I cant equalize so I cant go past 12 ft without losing an eardrum. Ive busted them tons of times though so I wouldnt mind pushing it to the max.

Also, does the Navy care about moving violations when trying to enlist? I have a few unpaid tickets I was wondering if that would come into play at all. I have no other convictions or anything like that.

I also havent filed taxes in a few years, I dont owe any money I just havent been able to file them. I tried to file in 04 and they wouldnt accept and every year after that its been the same. I shouldve had a lot of money coming back to me every year so Im not too worried I just really dont have the time or money to get it straight.

(Yall are gonna think this is lame) I have lived in Tx all my life and have always been in the heat, not too good with cold. Is there a required cold training at all? Ive only seen snow like twice and I run in temps 110 and above. Cold tears me up though.

I think thats it for now I hope you all have a good day and thanks for reading!

Welcome, Not srue about the diving. I am sure someone that knows will be around to answer.
Unpaid tickets well just go pay them and then they won't be a problem.
To me the tax stuff would have to be taken care of but then i am not sure.
Depending when you go to bootcamp depends on if you have to deal with the cold.
Good luck finding out all you need to know.
But going and talking to a recruiter in person would be the best thing to do since they know all the answers

Hey and welcome!

Get the tickets paid off...I believe now every rate will require some kind of background search, and depending on which rate you end up choosing, you could need a high clearance, and having things like that on your record could keep you from getting the ideal job. The tax thing needs to be taken care of also...I guess just find out what you need to do to take care of it all because that could sneak up on you and end up in a mess with the Navy.

Swimming...all you are required to do is know one of four strokes, and jump off a platform that's about 10ft high. No depth of any kind is required. Also, they have no cold training of any kind. Remember, the Navy is a bunch of ships! Most of us work inside the ship, like me for example. Depending on what time you go to boot camp it'll either be hot or cold. I went in March and graduated in April and it was cold and it snowed a few times. The ideal time for you would probably be sometime from May til about September. I know May is when they start doing the physical training outside instead of in Freedom Hall.

Do contact a recruiter, once you feel more comfortable with answers from us. Be warned though, they don't tell you everything, so if you have any questions or don't feel comfortable with something, just let one of us know!
