need help

hello! my boyfriend is graduating august 29th and I am going to see him. I'm living in Europe and I have no clue how to get there. I've never been in Chicago before but I'm gonna fly into Chicago O'Hare International Airport. But from that point I don't know how to find an hotel near a transportation point which would get me to the graduation on time. I would rent a car but I cannot because I don't have any driving licence. I really do need help. It is like I'm ready to come a week early to be sure to get there. If anyone could give me any ideas, please thanks

Are you coming with anyone that does drive? If not you want to stay at a hotel that has a shuttle and close to the base. There are several places that are not too far with shuttles... but then you are gonna have to depend on a cab service to get you back and forth for your friends liberty and for whatever else you want to do while there.
Is the graduation packet being mailed to you? It has a list of places to stay that are close.

Hi....and welcome to the cafe.....if you check with some of the places to stay you will probably find that most of them have shuttles to and from the airport and then some even have shuttle to the base for graduation. It is just going to take some leg work on your part to find out. You may be able to email most of the hotels to find out what you want or it may be listed on their website.

Like KYmom said after graduation you will have to rely on taxi's to get where you want to go.

Belgium is one place I didn't get to see .... lived in Stuttgart Germany for my last two years. Absolutely LOVED it.

You might be able to have the Public Affairs Officer at bootcamp get you a package sent to you ... I don't have the phone number or address to them but I'm sure someone on this board does.

I've been in Germany but not so far in the country. Well I know he put me on the list, that's what he told me on the phone last week. I don't know if I can call them because I'm technically not from his family... Well does anyone know when the packet is sent/received because I have to count a big week to get it(mail is not delivered on saturdays either)?? It takes 2 weeks to have an answer from my boyfriend (1 week to send questions + 1 week to get the answers) and I don't know if he is gonna call me again... I'm also leaving one week before graduation in order to be on time and catch up with the timezone. By the way I think I have found an hotel with both shuttle from the airport and to the graduation place. I'm so excited!! Thanks everyone for your help!!

It probably went to his parents. Are you friendly with his parents and could contact them to see where they are staying and stay at the same place. This would also give you transportation also. If this relationship is going somehwere it's best to get along with the parents and share that time with him.

I think you have a place there, you're his girlfriend. Maybe if you do talk to his parents, and show that you're supportive, they'll come around to you. I don't see why not anyway...you obviously are supporting him by trying to find a way to get to him! Most girls break up with their boyfriends before or during boot camp...we had that happen to a guy in my division. She got a few nasty letters...lol. She broke up with him for a guy that works at McDonalds, go figure. And he has kids.

Just give it a try...show your support for him. I think Momma's like that sort of thing. Think...lol, I'm not one so I dont know for sure.
