To all the new deppers that will be leaving in a few days....please please consider talking your parents into joining this board. Boot Camp can be a very stressful time on those of us left behind waiting to hear from our children....tuned Sailor's!
It helps to have other people to talk to that have been there and done that to answer questions and concerns.....to be able to give important information that they may need to know about.
So this a personal invitation to your families.....PLEASE JOIN US! We would love to have you...

Kristie - just found this site in the past few days and still trying to figure out how to find my way around. Our son Dan leaves for boot camp on 4 November - he just graduated HS and is in DEP. He's really looking forward to going and we're wishing he didn't have to wait so long.
Can you (or anyone) tell us when he will be graduating from boot camp?

It really depends on when he is put into a division when he arrives at boot camp...but the AVERAGE time in boot camp is 8 weeks plus/minus
When my nuke son went in on Nov 5th 2006, his PIR date was January 5th. And no, I didnt get a call on Thanksgiving, or New Years, but my oldest son went and adopted out his brother for Christmas Day!

Glen....welcome, we are glad that you found us and like sweetmtn said it really depends, my son was there 8 weeks and daughter was there 7 and a half weeks....some are there 9 weeks....so it depends when they. You will not find out a graduation date until he has been there for at least 24 to 48 hours. You can estimate an approx date....
Read all you can on here under the Heading to the Navy or at Boot Camp (http://www.thenavycafe.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4) forum and we will do our best to answer any questions you might have.....we have some great people on here with great information to share.....so ask away!
