I finally pinned my recruiter up and just straight up asked him every thing. Why things are taking as long as they are, why it's been a year.
Come to find out the first captain denied me. They restarted my packet from scratch and are trying again with this new captain to get me in the Navy.
Why would this one accept me over the last one?
Should I just try and go back into the Army?
This is so frustrating...

No sense in getting worked up over something that is completely out of your control ... it wastes your time.
Apparently, the Navy recruiter still sees some glimmer of hope in putting you in or they wouldn't have re-submitted your package on your behalf. They could've easily let it "die on the vine" and told you to pack sand ... but they didn't. Give them the benefit of the doubt and let them see this thru with the new CO.
If that doesn't pan out ... join something else. If you look at all of the services from the 30 thousand foot level ... they are all working for the same goal, so it doesn't really matter where you go as long as you do your best.
Keep us posted, bud .... and hang in there. Nothing worth doing is going to come easy.
Cheers,
PISTOL

Yes, that's what I was thinking Chief. I agree with multiple things you say. One team one fight you know?
I did get discharged from the Army, and I wanted to go back. My brother had said go Navy, and I figured it'd be safer.
But ya know what i don't have another 6 months to waste just for a 50/50 answer.
So I'm going back to the Army, I appreciate the post Chief.

I do not recall why your initial application was denied, but let me tell you that sometimes it takes preseverance to get in. My son has been trying to join the Navy for about the last year. We first had to get past his recruiter who for some reason unknown to us refused to process the paperwork - that took congressional intervention to resolve.
His initial paperwork review ended up in a rejection letter. We found out why and it was based on some misinformation that the Navy had, so we fought it and are now collection some more paperwork to prove our point. As we've gone along, we've gone from a flat out "No!" to a "well ... hmm... if you can provide us with this information, we'll look at it again"
Ultimately, of course, it's up to you. If you've given up on the Navy and the Army will take you, then good for you! If you want support here from those who may have been going through the same process, we'd love to help!

I totally understand. I was discharged from the Navy 3 1/2 years ago and have been trying to get back in off and on for about that long. As Pistol said, nothing worth doing is going to be easy. Just keep trying for what makes you happy and you'll get there eventually. :)

And as Dori from Finding Nemo says: "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."
