An EF-3 tornado (136 - 165 MPH winds) struck the Arkansas town of Stuttgart Saturday night. 150-200 homes and businesses affected, including a nursing home with 97 residents, including my grandmother, my DEPper's great-grandmother. No fatalities, but 3,000 without power, possibly for a week.
My uncle's house was also hit.
My mother was in town, but in a hotel, but had been at Wal-Mart not an hour earlier. And had her and dad not ended up spending the night in two different places in two different towns because the money-pit RV had broken down and mom went to see her mom (of the nursing home), they might be dead, because the RV would have been in the Wally World parking lot, in the tornado path.
Please pray for those who have stepped up to the challenge of cleaning up, repairing and rebuilding... who got 97 residents safely from their beds, into wheelchairs and into the hallway before the building was hit. They are looking at the better part of a week before they get back power.... and the residents of the nursing home were shipped out to facilities in three other cities.

Thank you everyone.....

Oh, wow. That is what you call to close for comfort on the R.V.
Prayers for everybody involved. Happy that all your family is o.k. physically,
we know it will be awhile before they will be o.k. mentally after something like that.

Yikes!!!

Wishing them, and all affected, a quick recovery.

I had the misfortune of living in a place that got hit by an ice storm and we were without power for 10 days. With temps in the house going down to 35, it was sure uncomfortable ... but we were young and it was not too big of a problem. For nursing hime residents, it has to be a dangerous situation!!!

Kay.....I sure hate to hear that but am so glad that everyone is ok....and praying for quick repair of electricity.....I remember when hurricane Rita came through they told us we would be without power for 6 to 12 weeks but they had so much help it was only 2 and a half weeks so I am praying they have lots of help to get it restored faster.....
