071127-N-0483B-003 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Nov. 27, 2007) Sailors aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) man the rails as the ship arrives in port. Kitty Hawk, the world's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, returned after completing a scheduled fall deployment and participation in ANNUALEX, the maritime component of the U.S.-Japan exercise Keen Sword 08. The exercise was designed to increase interoperability between the United States and JMSDF and enhance their ability to effectively and mutually respond to a regional crisis situation.
