View Full Version : First Phone Call...and he wants to golf!?!?

Got my first call from my recruit today!!!! I missed the first one by about 2 minutes, and I was devastated!!!! :cry: But he was able to call back right quick, and I got him that time! :p SOOO HAPPY!!!!
He sounded good, a little homesick, but didnt give the impression that he regretted his decision at all....
He said he has pink eye, but doesnt want to seek medical because he was already SIQ one day for a wisdom tooth...
I asked what he wanted to do while we were there for PIR, and he said he wants to go golfing!!!! :cheesy: anyone know if there are courses in the area?

Here is a reasonable golf course in Gurnee, IL - not far from base.

Hi.

I too missed my first call, and the second. I cried and cried as I listened to the messages on the machine. I finally got to talk to him the third time he called. I know how you feel, it is heartbreaking, be strong and Proud, this is a great site, we all have so much in common. I could not get thru this without this site.

Congrats on the phone call. Things seem to be a little easier after we hear there voice and know they don't regret their choice.

yay... i am also so glad you got to hear from your son! i know that will make the next few weeks so much easier! enjoy your time with him at PIR!

ohhhh...I got pink eye in boot camp...but it was from battle stations. A lot of us got it, actually. We went to sick call the next mornin, and the Lieutenant was awesome...she gave us all SIQ. We were finished with everything..and she asked us if we wanted it, and of course we said YES!!! LOL! That was the first time I had ever had it, and I got it in BOTH eyes.....it was pretty gross. I appreciated all of the Purell dispensers on the walls in the compartment!!!
