Questions for all of you. My son is going on to A school in Texas after BC. He will be a MA and I was wondering if you got to spend the weekend with your son/daughter after PIR? I am trying to plan and not sure if I should plan on staying through the weekend or what. Also, when do you find out if they have liberty? So many questions...
Thanks in advance for your help.

I called the recruiter under the premise of getting PIR date, (pir is 9-14) and he gave me 9/16/07. I am assuming that is the date he leaves for A school.
Might do the same thing with your recruiter to see what date you get.
PIR's are alway a Friday, so I am assuming that he won't leave till sunday.

All of them leave at different times - depends on what their orders say - My son for example left for A school almost 2 weeks after PIR while others in his same div/ship and same A school left the Sunday after PIR.
My daughter graduates September 28th - will go to TX for A school - another MA - but I won't know when she leaves for A school until we get there.

My husband is an MA, and when I went to Chicago for his PIR I was able to spend the entire weekend with him. I know at that point in time (last year) his a school was backed up, so even when he got to San Antonio he has to wait a while to start classes. I went out to visit him 3 times last summer while he was in school. They have different phases, allowing different privileges... but your son will be able to tell you all about those when he gets there :) I encourage you to try and make it to San Antonio at least once... it's a really nice place to visit!

My son, Ryan's PIR is 9-14-07, I got a letter from him yesterday, he will no longer be coming home to TX for his A-School in San Antonio, which is about 3 1/2 hours from us. He will be going to a new school in Virginia. I was bumbed out, would prefer him to be close to home, would be nothing to get int he car and go up to San Antonio.
