Not sure if this is where I should post this, but Is there a way to make pictures smaller so that I can post them in the thread you started?

Looks like you figured it out. You can upload them to the photo gallery and just link to that photo or you can resize them and save to your PC and upload them that way.

Actually the ones I posted were within the limit, but I have another one or two that are too big. Do I resize them in the photo gallery or do I need some kind of program to do that?

The photo gallery will automatically resize them for you. ;)
