Im a freshman in college and for the last couple of months ive been bouncing around with my decision to join the navy. The only thing that has kept me is the fact that i havent been able to get any solid information on what i can do in the navy in terms of finishing my college degree. My recruiter has told me all those things about how much money i get for school and has mentioned to me on many occassions the program known as STA 21. I really want to go into the navy but it is really important for me to know that i will be able to get my degree. My degree is also very important to me because i look forward to having a career with the navy and i would like to get the opportunity to try and become an officer. Can anyone give me any information about any of this and how it all works?

Good Luck on your decision and future career.
Here is a link I hope will help you http://www.navy.mil/navydata/infoIndex.asp?id=E
That should put you in right direction for factual information.
All I know is what the recruiter's have told my son, and they will be here in 3 hours to pick him up.

KYmom gave a good link....there is also info out there on the STA 21 program....you will have plenty of opportunity to get a degree...most carriers have professors onboard when they deploy...and you can take all kinds of online courses.....some of the A schools earn you college credits also....
The only thing that will keep you from getting your degree would be you.....I heard a guy talking the other day on the radio and he was saying that he had his degree already and was working on his masters so there is more than enough opportunity to do what ever it is you want to do...
I wish you the best of luck....please keep us posted....
