For those of you that have gone to PIR already - can you give me some ideas for hotel accomidations?

Thanks for your help.

Becky....we stayed at the AmeriSuites for both of our graduations and loved it....great location....not to far from base in a very upscale area of town....movie theaters....nice mall...lots of food and shopping.....

We got the rate of $69 for Navy graduation (you have to tell them that).....and they have a free full breakfast buffet in the mornings.....

Their website is http://www.amerisuitesvernonhills.com/ I think to get that rate you have to reserve way ahead.

We stayed at the Navy Lodge and it was fine. We got a rate of $61, no tax. It is very close to RTC and in the residential area of the base. In hindsight, we'd stay elsewhere that had nicer rooms, free breakfast, a pool would be nice......but for the short time we were there (son was grad and go), it was really just fine. You'll find everyone has a different experience at every hotel so I'd say look at what amenities and proximity you prefer and go from there. The hotel doesn't stand out in our minds when we remember PIR so it did it's job with a place to sleep and shower, but not much more.

Thank you both. I have a tendency to be a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels I must admit. My husband works for the Four Seasons and we've been spoiled by staying at their hotels, however this trip our request for a room didn't come through as they are booked at the time we are going to be in Chicago. Oh well, maybe next PIR in September. :) I like the idea of the little nicer room and the breakfast - once less meal you have to go find out and about.

I'll keep you updated on where we book.

You guys always come through for me. You're awesome.
