Well, tommorrow is the big day - my son leaves for boot camp.

The last couple months have been a roller coaster for us with him. He hit his 'rebellious stage', just 5 weeks ago and decided to live with friends until he shipped out. This was hard on his old mom - I thought I had those weeks to spend with him and they were yanked out from under me. He decided he didn't want to have a going away party either. We are having a small dinner party for him tonight (he thinks he is just coming for dinner with the immediate family) SUPRISE!

We've talked recently and he is very anxious to go. He told me yesterday that he is "so ready" which makes me feel good.

I'm so proud of his decision to join, I truely think this is an awesome path for him. I can't wait to see him at PIR and see the changes.

Good Luck, I hope these last five weeks goes smoothly for you all.
That rebellious stage can be rough, lets all keep our fingers crossed that he doesn't do anything to mess up his future.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Dinner went very well last night and he left on a positive note. We had a long talk before he left and cleared the air on some things that were heavy on our minds. I was content when he left and he promised to call just as soon as he can and write when he could.

Then after those emotions just started to ease up, my cat (Ms. Kitty), who was 14 years old became very ill last night and passed away.

The strange thing about her passing last night was, she and Casey were so close growing up and when he left, so did she. I know it was a kawinkydink, but strange at best.

It has been a sad morning at my house, but we know in our hearts Casey will become a wonderful young man and a great sailor and that Ms. Kitty is in a better place chasing butterflies in a big field of grass.
