A school in Pensacola

Hi all! I'm new to the site, just wondering if anyone here knows anything about AS A school? (As far as classes, life on base, anything at all would be helpful!) All I know so far is that it is 17 weeks in Pensacola. Also, how soon after basic do you report to A school? Thanks everybody! -- Jess

I think you will go from Boot camp to A school within a few days. It depends on how backed up your A school is. I'm sure someone with more expertise will chime in here sooner or later.

Jess.....Like KYmom said you will leave right after graduation or a few days later....it changes all the time.....

My daughter Jennifer who is futureIT on here will be graduating boot camp on April 27 and will be going to Pensacola for her IT A school....hopefully after she gets there we will be able to answer your questions.....

Pensacola is a beautiful place....I grew up in Ft. Walton Beach which is about an hour from Pensacola.....you will love the beaches.....

Corey went there for AO school, he flew out at 4am on PIR weekend (he left Chicago before we did) then sat waiting for school to start for over a month...so I'm not sure what the big hurry was for him to get there. He liked it there only complaint was he got his iPod stolen.

My son went to Pensacola right after PIR - the end of January. He did not start school till April - over 2 months of sitting and waiting. Well... not actually sitting and waiting. He had watch, duty, lawn work, house work, base work... Unless things have changed, Pensacola is still backed up on school.

Carol.....did you get time with your son after PIR of did he have to leave the same day???.....Jennifer will be going to Pensacola but she said that she does not leave till May 2 so we are praying that it does not change so the we will get some time with her.....we had the entire weekend with Brandon as his A school was the at GL....

We got to GL on a Thursday. PIR on Friday. We had Vincent all day Friday. Saturday was 12:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Sunday was 10:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. We drove home on Monday and he went to Pensacola on Tuesday. We would have had him earlier on Saturday, but someone in his division messed up on getting back to base on time. So of course, everyone was affected.

I'm sure you'll be able to spend the weekend with Jennifer. I don't know what's going on in Pensacola now, but it still seems to be backed up.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I've been to a few places in FL (Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater) and thought they were great, so I'm looking forward to my time there. :biggrin:

Is the Pensacola not a safe place. do you need to hide your valuables. I ship out to boot camp June 11th. If all goes well ill be in A school as an AC. does any one have a picture of the housing. for some reason i have this weird image in my head that the housing is like a motel with a 15 by 15 room and 4 bunks with one head for the whole floor. i don't know why.

I'll be going to Pensacola for A school as well. Go to Great Lakes June 21, so I'll probably end up in Pensacola in August or September.
