I did all my MEPS work/testing through the Air Force, but never got to enlist. Now I'm going to see a Navy recruiter, so basically all I have to do is go to MEPS to chose a rating I believe, I've done everything else. I'm really interested in HM, which is what got my attention to the Navy. I'm wondering, is this rating hard to book, or is it usually available? Thanks for the help everyone.

Depends upon how old your MEPS physical is. If it's too old, you will have to do it again.

Right now deppers are taking anywhere from 6 months to 12 months to ship off. A few get a quick shipdate, however, that is the exception rather than the rule.

They all are hard to book except for nuke, SWCC and a couple of others.

Even the MEPS physicals? I thought those were only good for 6 months or am thinking about the ASVAB?

I know the ASVAB is two years.. I was thinking 6 months on the MEPS physical.

im 99.99% sure the meps physical is 2 years

I just researched a little. Both the ASVAB and Physical are good for two years.

The only thing you would have to do again is the weight/height, and urinalysis, and those type things.

It will actually be my THIRD time. Not by choice, thats for sure. Thanks everyone.

Has anyone been DEP'ed in lately? Was HM available?

I DEP'ed about two or three weeks ago. I dont recall seeing it, but I didnt look to hard, because I simply said.. Do you have MA available. He said Yes. In fact there is an enlistment bonus. I said Ill take it.. Lol

My boyfriend took 9 months for dep, he was going for OS. So that was one long wait, but gave him a good time to study so if it's a long DEP don't worry! However a very close friend of mine went in for HM about...october november area of last year and her dep was only i thing just over 30 days. As far as I know HMs are always needed and always an open job.
