4/27/2007 PIR Dinner!

Hi all......the tradition is that everyone who has the same PIR get together for dinner the night before PIR.....when Brandon graduated there was about 20 of us and we had a wonderful time.

We met at The Full Moon restrauant that is near the base and the food is wonderful and very good prices....they are 24 hours a day and we ate there alot when we were there.....if you are interested in meeting just let me know....

I hope Dawn sees this too! I'm not sure what time we'll make it up there but I'll know more as we get nearer the date. My husband's job will dictate when we're able to leave.

So, I will let you know but I HOPE we are able to meet up the night before!!!

I would love to get together, we can see what happens; I think we're all in the same boat...grad and go but I'm not sure if we have two hours or two days...anyone know more than me? I'd love some good news...

I made my reservation at the Navy Lodge today; so that's one step closer, now how to get there..hmmmm

Look at the flip side, if the kids don't get too stay as long as the parents. The parents will just have to get together and do something. At least you will have some other people in the same situation to keep you company.

Hey Dawn, I don't know if this will help but Southwest flies nonstop out of Philly to Midway in Chicago, and the internet rate total for the trip (coming in Apr. 26, leaving Apr. 29) would be $238.80, per person. I've flown Southwest before and had no problem. You may want to check that out. Looking forward to seeing you girls and of course seeing my son!!!!

Well, my flight doesn't arrive until 6pm so I may not be able to attend, but if that happens I will look for everyone at graduation.....I told my son I will be wearing a white headband with black polka dots...just so he can recognize me...:)...

I'll keep my fingers crossed; I would love to meet everyone that has gotten me through these last couple of months!

Could you tell me where you decided to stay? I'm debating on my reservation at the Navy Lodge...idk..I see so many other places now I'm doubting my choice.

We are staying at the AmeriSuites....with it being a Navy Graduation we got the rate of $69 a night and it has a free buffet breakfast included.....we really liked it when Brandon graduated...here is a link to their website....there is another lady staying there that weekend also....you can get 2 doubles and a pull out (couch in another area) or a King and a pull out.....they have pictures on the website...

Okay girls, I posted a couple of photos to give you and idea of what I look like. Click on my photo gallery under my name and check it out. Kristie and Dawn, I know what you look like from your pictures, so I thought I should share too. My hair is lighter now and longer but you get the idea. My real hair is completely white but out of the bottle, my hair color is light brown :laugh: It started turning when I was 13 and I finally decided to cover it when I turned 40. Wow, what a difference that made!

Anyway, I tried to post pictures somewhere on NP but couldn't find a place but I knew you'd find them here.

See you girls soon.....actually in less than 2 weeks!!! (it is now Thursday night after all)

Their website says that they are 15 min from the base but I am not sure it is that far...

We booked there for Saturday and Sunday night, but not at the rate you got....but that's okay since if Matt does have time, I'm sure he would love to use the internet.:laugh:

They were booked for Friday so we'll just call them as it gets closer to see what's available. We are at the Navy Lodge for Thursday and Friday; which actually is okay cause I'm sure Friday if we get time with Matt, we'll be out and about!

Yeah, it wasn't too bad, but w/e I just want him to be comfortable (if he's with us) and if not, we will.

I kind of like staying at the Navy Lodge for the two days; it will give me an idea how it is, I was curious.

I will see you on Friday though.....think we should have a "crying" section for all the moms! :biggrin: we'll be crying out of happiness this time!

And Jonbearsmom will be at PIR too! I tried on clothes tonight for the graduation and I have no idea what to wear! Nothing fits right and it all looks bad on me.......of course no one will be looking at me anyway, they'll only have eyes for their own sailor!

Angie....just make sure that you wear comfortable shoes...I would recommend flats because you do a lot of walking to get to PIR.....

I was just thinking the same thing; what do I wear? I know everyone will be looking at the "sailors" but I want to be comfortable and thanks for the suggestion of flats cause that's what I'll have on ... of course since I'm short Matt will never see me then...:laugh:

You will see everything from suits to dresses to jeans (but not many jeans)....just be comfortable.....I wore dress pants and a sweater and of course flats.....which is how I will dress again.....and remember that your Sailor will be in there "Dress" uniform.....

actually the weekend that we were there...lots of jeans and nice shirt. Its just about being comfortable. seen a few dressed up, but not many!!
remember it a Friday...so for us it was "Red shirts" to support our military!!

Besides, I need to know who to look for...I can't get up and say, Hey any parents I talk to online sitting here! That would be funny though...
