Could someone explain the different phases at A school to me? I've seen a couple of different places people talking about the phases. When I was in, we just went to school, and that was that.

I'd appreciate any information.

privileges. First Phase is similar to boot camp, obviously not as strict, but you have few privileges. Second phase is better, third is best.

Don't know exactly, but Phase I my son was real excited, he got to start wearing civilian clothing. Phase 2 and 3 I think have more to do with privleges such as how long they can stay away from base. When I talk to my son this week, I'll ask him from more specifics --- that is, if he will give them to me -- he's not one for lots of details.

They get to start wearing civilian clothes during Phase 2....different privileges for each phase...

Yes Kristie, thank you, I talked to my son yesterday and asked him, Phase one you get to stay out until 10:00 pm.; Phase 2 was really important, got to start wearing reg. clothing and Phase 3 you have more time allowed away from the base.

My was able to drive home to PA from CT one weekend during Phase 3. He did it to surprise me! He also drove to Boston a couple of times. Phase 3 is the big one!

So are the phases the same as E1, E2 etc. or are those ranks? ? I know my sailor has already been home for the first time after he left and everything and they can go so many miles outside of the base and stuff

No they are not the same...the E1 & E2 are ranks..many schools have phases they go through during their schooling. Each phase gives them more privileges. Some schools are very long, like 18 months, so they become very important to them so they can go home and such...does this help?
