I am a Navy Gf whos going through my first deployment and it stinks to say the least. I do not know anyone at all who is going through what i am and I feel so alone. My sailor actually got sent out with the Army and between the training and the deployment he will be gone almost a year and half. We are half way there and through the R and R and I think that just made it worse to see him and say goodbye all over again and think 9 months down 7 to go.

Nope ... it ain't easy. If it was, EVERYBODY could do it !!
Takes someone with a lot of dedication to love someone in the US military. Hang in there ... that R&R time was a definite boost to him, I'm sure of that. Whatever it takes to support him 100% and to help get the mission done, right ??
Cheers,

Welcome Aboard!
Being a girlfriend/wife/spouse IS tough. However, you will have to suffer just as he is suffering from missing you. Do your absolute best to support him, this separation isn't a one way street!

Usually there is a family readiness group, (group of the wives) that get together on and offline for mutual support and to share pictures and info. They are a life saver - check it out.

Yes, but Mom also suggested websites and forums (online) for the FSG's.

They have online stuff. My son was deployed (2x) and I stayed active with the FRG online message boards. Granted some have better frg groups than others.
But hopefully you can find a couple of people that you can relate to better and share stuff with and compare notes. LOL... along with support from us.

He was stationed on the Taylor but he is now attached to the Army so hes on land. 6 months of training with a one year deployment. And to think I thought we would be avoiding long Army deployments by him being Navy, silly me.
What is your boyfriends Rate?

I dont know to be honest I dont get much into his rate and rank and all that crazniess I think what I meant was hes an E 3 going to E 4. We tend to talk of other things and not work and I havent studied the rates in years
Oh, ok. he is an ENSN taking the test for E4, which in his case would be EN3.
