Congratulations on your Carrier..... My son was with the TR for about 11 months ( 8 months deployed) with them on their last deployment. The TR is currently in the shipyards being refitted. Check out my photo album and you will see alot pics from the TR.

Ouch! You really shouldn't have been here for even a quarter of that time! This base definitely sucks, I'm glad you're getting to leave, though! A few of my friends are getting limdu orders for here and I feel for them.

There's a lot of things to see and do around here plus we don't get terrible winters so where's the problem?

It definitely is tough not having a car so you can get off base. During my college days I had to walk everywhere too which got real old/reall fast. I couldn't wait till I could get a vehicle my second year. Good luck!

can you have a car during A school or C school?
Not sure about C school. Almost positive you can. VaBeachMom's son is in C school right now, she will probably know that.
However, in A School it will depend upon what phase you are in. If I remember correctly, the first phase, you can't even ride in a privately owned vehicle (POV).

I can only answer for Michael's C school in Biloxi (AG), but they're allowed to have vehicles. He drove his down from VA and will be driving it out to San Diego in a couple of weeks.

i know that for "a" school for corpsman your not allowed to have a car unless your a fleet returnee. other 'a' schools may let and others wont you will find out soon as possible.
