I served my time in the Navy, from Aug 1964, to Jan 1968.
Went to BC is San Diego, CA and after was stationed aboard the USS Paricutin AE-18. The Paricutin was an Ammunition Ship. She carried everything from 22 shells to nuclear missiles. She was commissioned 3 March 1945, and struck from the Naval Register, 1 June 1973.
I made 3 WESTPAC cruises during time on board, and spent most of that time in the South China Sea off the coast of Vietnam. Some of the ports we visited, The Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Guam, Okinawa, Alaska,
Reading some of the stuff here..... the Navy sure has changed. LOL
My hat is off, and I salute your young men and women as they serve our Country. God Bless them.
