I recently enlised in the navy and i am current in DEP as a YN, I really wanted to go HM but ended up having to choose YN. There is a possiblity that I can switch to HM if a spot opens up. Howver Id like to know the pros and cons for each rate. Id also like to know why one would be better than the other. Im looking to finish up my bachelors degree while im in the navy. I already complete 30 college credits and I would liek to pursue a Masters after my four year active duty obligation. My goals are to eventually work in healthcare particularly as an anesthesiologist assistant or nurse anesthesist. Would YN or HM be a better rate for a guy like me. Thanks for your help

As far as pro's and cons, thats something you will have to research on your own. I personally wouldn't be interested in any of those rates because I have no desire to be in the medical field, nor do I have a desire to keep track of records and logs of personnel and command stuff.

Since you're looking to eventually be in the medical field, I'm going to say HM is best.

HM would be best, don't wast your years doing something different if that's the route you want to go. If you really want to be nurse anesthesist stick with the HM.
To be a nurse anesthesist you have to be a rn, then you have to do 2 years critical care nursing, before you can start the nurse anesthesist school. But a great field to go into.
By oldest son's sister-n-law is one. It's better money than some Dr's make- with alittle less schooling. LOL..

Agreed with both comments. Go with the job that you want the most, not the job that will get you in the quickest!
