View Full Version : Galley Talk August 2nd-9th
Nothing much.
Tomorrow is Chief's 24th wedding anniversary. :)
It appears that Chief is sick today. :(
I'm trying to talk Mrs. DK3 into buying the above pictured Ford Mustang, however, I'm not doing a very good job. :(
Steve hasn't said much either for the past couple of the days. He must be hiding too....
Let's see, a few minutes ago, I had a visit with a contractor. We are looking at having our bathrooms (1.5) remodeled. That will be good. The bad news, $6,500 to do it. We are doing it though. Doing our part to stimulate the economy which is one reason I can't convince Mrs. DK3 about the Mustang!!!
What's going on with you? Where have you been?

Most of the time! My son is 19. He is in college, however next fall he transfers to Tennessee Tech which means that he will be moving there. That will be hard on the wife and me to see our baby leave home.
No, no car seats needed. The factory has been shut down and our son knows that if he generates any before his BA is complete (and married), the college money will dry up to support our grand child!!
I hear ya !! My oldest had to join the Army to pay for his little "uh-oh".
The solution to the empty nest blues ... is to adopt more !! (We are trying to adopt two more as we speak. So .... Mrs. Pistol traded her Hemi pick-up for a mini-van !!)
Congrats! Chief, certainly a long time isn't it!!!!! Well, hopefully it will pass overnight!!!
Do you guys have anything special planned?!
We spent the day at Chuck E Cheese with a little boy that we are trying to adopt. Had a blast ... great kid !! Hoping his older sister comes with the package !!
Man I don't need anything that powerful. I already have a lead foot!!! Although luckily, I haven't had any tickets in 14 years, however, I've come very, very close!
Spoken like an old man .... (we are the same age hahaha). Splurge a little ... you owe it to yourself. And it's so much fun ... you're maturity level will keep Johnnie Law on the side of the road where he needs to be.
Cheers,
PISTOL

Alritey heres what I was late on doing again! lol. Sorry guys, I think its pretty understood that being in the military you can get real busy, real fast :). My research paper is due this upcoming weekend so I've been working on that; I only have 6000/18000 requirement though so far -.-.. My goal is 3000 a day though finishing it on saturday. its really not too hard of a paper, just a lot of looking around.
I've also got a meeting today at 1630 with the cubscout troop 53. My Lifeguard Job ends September 6th and I'm looking for a less demanding, but still important to the community activity (or most likely 2 of them) to take its spot to help with volunteering... I want that EP (again :p) for my frockee eval, and my goal officially is STA-21... This means that I've got to continue to work hard and excel because not every joe schmoe sailor gets recommended and accepted.
Good luck on adopting kids Pistol! It takes only a certain type of people to be able to introduce a child or 2 into their family that isn't from their loins and treat and care for them as their own!
I had a sit down with an ETC the other day in my command. He wanted to talk to me to make sure I'm still on the right path and such because he had been to my DRBs and such. He told me that when people ask him what he does for a living, he says he raises kids.. so maybe you had been doing this for many years anyway, and just wanted to get back into the game?

Can you volunteer at a school? As a current PTA President we can always use adults at our school to help with all kinds of things/functions during the school year. My son volunteered a couple of times while he was still here in Hampton Roads.

I'm sure I could but only when there are events coming up. I've missed out on a few because I was working those days..
I just got back from the college office,
taking 3 more classes next semester!!
gotta hit that goal
Im 12 completions of classes away from getting my associates.

What's the subject of your paper? Is it interesting I hope!?

The way you are attacking this, I have no doubt you aren't going to make it!

I agree. Chief, you and Mrs. Chief are a special couple!! I hope you get the little ones.

just attended the first boyscout meeting. I think taking 2 face to face classes this semester is going to be too much combined with this, and volunteering is just as important as going to school to reach my goals IMO. I'm going to stick with my twice a week class and the other single credit and decline the 2nd one that goes mon-thurs.. thats overloading.. I might leave it at that for this semester or I might look to see what classes are available online..
Also,
my paper is on how the human body burns energy. its not incredibly hard, i just have to list all the different thigns the body burns and what they are made up of, and such.. then I'm going to show positive & negative effects of each.. and hopefully I'll have a long enough essay. it has to be 18000 characters including spaces (or 3000 words, whichever). right now I've got about 900 words and 6200 characters, and I've explained fats & carbs... Just started to get into proteins.. so after i finish proteins (which I plan to pull 3000 out of), I'm going to start comparing and such.
lol DK3 i read the "i have no doubt you aren't going to make it" and was like "wtf? it" lol double negative ya know
hmmmm, I put that there to see if you would catch it. Great job!
Ok, watched The Big Lebowski tonight. I have never watched it until about a year ago. My son convinced me it is a great movie so i watched it?! However, I've watchhed it so many times, he wont watch it now.
If you haven't watched it then I feel sorry for you!!!!!! Over the past year, I have probably watched it at least 30-40 times, at one point, I was even watching it nightly. Great movie. I can quote it even when I've been drinking beer. (although my wife tells me it's not 100% but it is close).

Tomorrow I have to get up early (530) to go run a mock PRT.. So the 2 other guys in my section and I decided to make it fun and energizing. We are going and I'm going to run at their pace with them (about 11 min 1.5). At every lap instead of just saying or throwing up fingers showing what lap we are on, I'm going to shout COMMITMENT (our section) and they are going to shout the # in unison... then we will sprint the very last lap together.
should be fun, and I think it would be a good way to motivate them (and possibly others) since nobody wants to go do stuff like this on their day off
Sounds good. Group runs are always a motivator...
I'm back again! Got busy (like always) and have been away for a few days, I'm sure it will happen again soon (sorry cant go into detail lol, I know you guys understand)
Ok. You can tell us. We have already read it on wikileaks. You flew to Afganistan and attempted to arrest Osama. He resisted so then you had to pepper spray him, he continued to resist so you shot him after writing him a citation for littering.

He's a typical young male Sailor .... he know's just enough italian to order a beer, get some food .... and get slapped !!
Cheers,
PISTOL
I never learned much Italian?
Did learn cerveza though (obviously Spanish not Italian)! I didn't get slapped much, however, the champagne girls were quiet funny though with their sloppy english.

hah i know a decent amount of italian. My tenses are usually wrong (past, present, future) and I miss a lot of articles like I'll say "io vado lavoro ora" meaning "i go work now" instead of I go to work now... anyway yea, shes a linguistics major so she speaks fluent english... and french...
I asked her today, she showed enthusiasm but says she will have to see; this makes a lot of sense to me, its a big decision; especially when as it sits right now she is scheduled for surgery on august 23rd to (hopefully) repair a fractured tendon and bone in her foot.
I think she will end up saying yes...
Are you putting a lot of energy into this young lady?

honestly, we aren't really dating. We have not done anything intimate. We talk every day; txting facebook; everything. We both refer to eachother as babe. if I don't txt her for a few hours she'll txt me (showing that I'm on her mind). She is in a rough situation with her foot and stuff so It stopped me from doing it about a month ago... many have tried to "nab" this girl so to say and have completely failed. I know shes had boyfriends in the past, but was raised to be a "good girl" so to speak so not much experience at the whole dating thing; and why I haven't really asked her on a date.. I do stuff with her quite often, just today we went to lunch and then walked aimlessly around the mall..
I do still chat, have fun, and on occasion hook up with other girls, but with no intention of making any of that serious (yes I'm a horrible person). Maybe its the challenge this girl gives me that attracts me so much (besides her beauty) but I think about her ALOT... so yes i put energy into her, hopefully she will say yes to going to france and it will be an official ordeal... heres a picture of her and I
Hey, who is the dirtbag with the very hot chick?
many have tried to "nab" this girl so to say and have completely failed.
Good for you then, right?

Sounds like fun. Spending some fun time...

horrible, horrible person.
Hey if the offering is there, why turn it down....
so yes i put energy into her, hopefully she will say yes to going to france and it will be an official ordeal
I hope you get the answer you are looking for! She just might be a keeper!

yes thats pretty much it. I don't go out looking to meet girls every time.. sometimes it just happens; and thats pretty much how most of the situations spawn.
And yes I truly believe that if I'm able to secure it, shes a keeper.

Definately agree. Hope she doesn't have an Italian temper though for those times that you do something she doesn't like. ;)
