Just to let you guys know, from mid-day Friday thru Sunday evening, I will not be around the café.

Sunday will be our 22nd wedding anniversary and we will be celebrating by going to Pigeon Forge, TN for a couple of days to have fun, relax and, for me, drink beer (imagine that, right), and uh, hmmm, have fun.

22 years tomorrow, I was eagerly waiting to get on a plane leaving Norfolk heading home to Knoxville to marry my lovely blushing bride and best friend, to whom I love more today than the day we got married.

We were ornry to them any time EXCEPT when they came around from ESWS signatures. Karma always bit you in the derrier if you treated them bad then ... at least if you needed their siggies for YOUR pin.

Had a few good ones though ... they all know where the good drinking establishments are. Guess that's a benefit of early liberty when you pull in.

By the way, I'm back! Thank's everyone!!!

Had a great trip. It was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Both days 98/99 with the heat index 104-106. There were plenty of water to jump into. The hotel had a water park with both indoor and outdoor pools.

We didn't actually make it up too Dollywood, after we got up and read the weather for the day, we immediately decided that the water would be better choice instead of walking around on hot asphalt.

If anyone makes it up to Pigeon Forge, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever been in, absolutely clean with large rooms. The hotel Music Road Hotel. Here is a link to its' website:

This is a pic (their pic not mine) of the room we stayed in. Very nice...

Well, you could always go to the airdales and get a bucket of a.i.r. to clean the bulkheads with?!

How about a 3/4" left-handed bulkhead stretcher ?? I think most repair lockers have 3 or 4 of them lying around. Any DCman will be happy to show you how it is used properly.

Ok, I was assigned at one time to the forward repair locker. I would totally fall for this one. What the hell does it mean?!?!?!?!?!

Retired Navy Chief

Hell, I don't know. They sent me looking for one when I checked on my first ship ... kept me busy for several hours.:LforLoser:

Some people said they only made right-handed ones and that whoever sent me must be a real dufus (Chief used a more colorful word and got a good giggle from that one).... others asked me what color I needed and if it was going to be used port-to-stbd or fwd-to-aft :confused:.

By the end of the day, I had made a lot of new friends and learned several new Navy expletives !!

Oh, that's a good one. I so fell for the HT punch.

In Army boot camp, we had this book smart guy that was dumb as a stump (but he tried)! The Drill Sgt's gave him a bucket that had been shot up and told him to fill the bucket to the top with water. Of course he couldn't do it so they just kept reaming him for it. But like I said, he kept trying....
