I think MacSteve is still shaking off the 4th of July ... so i'll cover his six this week.

Well ... Mrs. Chief and I went window shopping for new cars yesterday and I got the "north / south nod" on a new Challenger SRT-8. Not sure that I really care to know what the payments and insurance would be ... and that may talk me out of it ... but sure is nice to have the choice. I'm thinking Plum Crazy Purple ....

Y'all have fun out there ... and if you live on the gulf coast ...remember, tar balls are NOT edible !! :shakeheadno:

Cheers,
PISTOL

Have you been down to the beach? Heard on the news that Texas beaches are now receiving the tar balls now.

My complaint this week is the same as last week: Summons.

My sked this week is pretty good, I work today and tomorrow and am off Thursday thru Sunday for my son's 19th birthday.

I don't do the beach much ... maybe if I was back in Hawaii or Thailand, but every other one is kind of a disappointment.

They are thinking that the tar balls out here came in on a ship that passed through the muck. Either way ... it stinks !! :frown:

Remember that he had a "penthouse" weekend!

Ooooohhh yeah, that's right. He's probably standing in the pennecilin line right now !!

I know we're hoping here in VaBch that it doesn't spread our way and that they get it under control soon down there.

Good deal Seth ... you going to go for harbor patrol duty ?? That is the stuff I would have liked to do as an MA.

Cheers,

Seth
07-07-2010, 01:38 AM
Ya we are switching our departments to law enforcement and then harbor patrol department, so they are giving me the coxwain so I can be on the harbor patrol side of things. which IMO is good and bad, I liked doing the law enforcement side of things, but I wont mind being on a boat i guess lol

DK3
07-07-2010, 08:09 AM
What would you be doing, escorting the boats to sea and and just patroling the harbor for threats?

Sounds kind of interesting though!

Seth
07-07-2010, 02:45 PM
both.

Afternoon y'all !!

I got my new "baby" yesterday !! Burnt Orange instead of the purple ... just as mean  !!
(This is a pic of someone elses car ... but mine is identical to it. It's raining like heck here in Houston, so I haven't taken any pics of mine yet).

The sales manager at the dealership I got her at was a shipmate of mine on my first ship ... 20 years ago !! Needless to say ... I got a good deal !!

sexy car pistol! The Challengers are nice cars for cruising around in. I'm sure you didn't get it to be the fastest dude on your street; and I think cruising in style with some decent power is exactly what these are made for.

Retired Navy Chief
07-09-2010, 06:58 AM
No, I didn't get it to be the fastest ... at this stage in my life there's nothing to prove here. BUT ... if I feel the need to blow the doors off something ....hehehe

Actually yes, they are wonderful vehicles and they are backed by the manufacturer and dealers very well. Interesting note: They have Ford engines in them.

Seth
07-09-2010, 01:22 PM
Yes they do, they are actually apart of FMC so they are owned by Ford.

DK3
07-09-2010, 01:25 PM
I didn't know that were totally owned by FMC, I thought that they only purchased their engines from them.

well no one is TOTALLY owned by FMC, they own majority of the Mazda if I remember right. The only companies that are TOTALLY owned by FMC is Ford, Mercury and Lincoln.

Spent a couple hours with my daughter washing the new car. Ungodly hot ... worked up quite a sweat and a thirst. Thankfully, there were a few frosty adult barley pops in the cooler !! (operative word is "were").

He is, trust me. And really lucked out that he's great mechanic as well so if and when car issues arise, he takes care of them. I think the last time any of our vehicles had to go into the shop was..............never.

Wish I could say that! I worked on my car once and that was in 1988 (I was working on the AC). I reconnected the lines. Unfortunately, I somehow connected the hi-pressure to the low pressure side and the low pressure to the hi-pressure side. Cranked up the car, turned on AC and boom. Litterally blew the compresser through the hood of the car.

So, I had to buy a new hood, get it painted to match the car, get a new ac compresser and get it property installed. Since then I have been prohibited from working on the car.

Which is why DK's are strictly prohibited from touching ANY tool on the ship ...right ?? :bigemo55:

I used to enjoy working on my own cars ... which was fortunate since I never had the money to pay someone else to do it. Haven't had to do much honest-to-God wrench turning for the past few years except on my wifes transmission ... my oldest son's girlfriend ran the Yukon off an embankment and cracked the transmission case. She is the EX-girlfriend now ....:woohoo:

Yeah, they wouldn't let me work with tools, but they did make me the magazine captain in one of the guns magazines.

That was probably the safest place to put me!
