A buddy of mine is shipping out tomorrow, when he enlisted he had a speeding ticket, and failed to appear. This was 4 months before he went to meps for the first time, It did not come up. Will they do another BG check and if they do would it come up this time?

It didn't come up the first time because he hadn't appeared in court or paid his fine yet. You are innocent up till court date where you have a chance to pay or go to traffic school. After that it will go on your record.
So yes it will be caught while he is in boot.
uh, you may want to make sure that this is taken care of ASAP. One of the jobs that I currently do is issue Arrest Warrants for folks who for whatever reason don't pay citations. This is serious business.

Good luck to your buddy....and I agree with whats been said. Why did he just ignore it way back when as it could have been so easily taken care of?

Actually my folks moved when I was in Army boot in the 70s... didnt find them for a long time... JK but they did move.

You guys got me scared, and im going to the court house Tuesday to pay. I have enough to pay 1 ticket, my question is would it be ok if while at boot, I leave my CC# with some one, and get them to pay the last ticket online when I get my 1st check? I understand you get paid day one, and the ticket is for $300?
why dont you just borrow money from someone and pay them both.... then give them the money back once you get paid....

Well, you know how it is .... it was a looooong deployment, there was a full bottle of rum in my back-pak and I really thought I was the only one in that particular jungle at the time ....

You need to be COMPLETELY FREE OF ALL FINES before you ship to bootcamp. End of story, shipmate !!
1) Never a good plan to give your credit card info to someone else ... ANYONE. If you really want to give away your ENTIRE bank account (which is what you would be doing) ... then just PM me your numbers and I'll head to the casino !!
2) Even if you do have someone who you trust implicitly with anything and everything ... what happens if they forget, or become hospitalized, house burns down with your info inside or something like that ?? You are S.O.L. and a warrant for failure to appear.
YOU need to take care of YOUR issues ... this is called "walking the path of Personal Responsibility", and once you're on it ... never stray from it again !!

x2 on what pistol said.. I am dealing with a credit card payment late for 16 days because mom owed me $65 and said she would just pay the card.. Doh! I'll probably have to tell my LPO about it and see what he says to do.. I hope i don't have to file paperwork with the security guys, that'll get annoying
