Hello everyone. I've come to seek out all the knowledge and experience I can about the Navy. My nephew decided to join, and he'll be headed to basic training in a month. We're all a bit overwhelmed by it as it was a decision that came out of no where.

So, bear with me as I learn all the lingo and acronyms. I don't have a clue what any of it means! :)

I want to know as much as I can for my nephew and my family's sake. We're going to miss him terribly!

Welcome Aboard! What job did he sign up for?

Honestly, I'm not sure. I believe it was something on a submarine - but I don't know. I mean, I would assume that you'd have to go through some testing and profiling to ensure you're okay for sub duty - that's not a place for someone who might have phobias.

It has been a bit of a whirlwind. One minute he was talking about what he wanted to do with his life (which was as far removed from the military as possible), and the next he joined the Navy!

It will help him grow up, when you go to PIR (graduation) you will meet a better person.
