Can you have appliances in A school? Microwave,tv,DVD etc..?
What about a place to cook your own food. like a stove or something just in case you dont like that is being served to u in school. Is there stoves/oven,fridge in the barracks?

No, you can't cook in your rooms.

If you don't like what's being served in the chow hall, either you don't eat or you go to the NEX? To be honest, there have been very few times that I haven't found something to eat either onboard ship or in the chow halls. One thing that the Navy does very well is feed its' Sailors.

Not usually in A-school ... you will still be under the microscope in the way of room inspections ... and a fridge is an easy hit for any inspector. So they just save you the pain & trouble and don't allow them.

There will be plenty of soda machines in the lobby or laundry room.

(We had beer machines in our laundry room back in the day .... ).

Actually my son did have a fridge in his A school room, don't remeber if he had a microwave or not but I think so.

Really?!?!

Man, maybe I should have been a snipe? Guess they wanted us to learn how to calculate pay and not screw it up.

The only thing I remember as far as that, no matter what the local drinking age was, you could drink beer if over 18 on base.

You know reading that now kinda makes me sound mean but i just thought it was funny cause I actually googled what can people take to A school and that came up. no hard feelings if I came off like an ass with that post

Alright kiddo heres your answer. My input also comes from about 4 different schools so bear with me. Its going to depend on the school BUT for all of them your not aloud to have anything in your room to cook food except a microwave, and thats only if they provide it. My first school didn't even allow us to have food in our rooms. We could only have it in the barracks lobby area. The second we had a fridge and a microwave and we were encouraged to have food and drinks at all times. The third we had a microwave and fridge again. And the 4th we didn't have shit again and weren't aloud to have food in our rooms. Like some of these other guys have said though, you don't need the stuff its just convenient. There will be vending machines, and the food at most chow halls isn't so bad you can't find something to eat. If nothing else there is usually a McDs,Subway, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, all sorts of fatty unhealthy stuff on base.

In my A school we had a fridge and microwave.... yes they are a .......hassle to keep clean, but they are DEF worth it! lol

You know I don't think I would want a fridge just for that reason. Like Doc said, the chow hall was always had good food and if it didn't there were always good options available.

we had a fridge in our rooms in my A school. we had a kitchen on the bottom floor with a community fridge, if you wanted to risk putting stuff in that one. we were allowed food in our rooms, but not allowed to cook. so if we wanted to get a pizza, we could eat it in the rooms.

i have a fridge and microwave in my room. its not really all that hard to keep clean, ive never gotten a hit for it on room inspection. it comes in handy for keeping drinks on hand instead of pouring all your money into vending machines. its alot cheaper to buy a big ol' thing of gaterade then to go buy one everyday. plus the galley isnt always open on your schedule. Like today i had class at 0300 and it went through breakfest. so on our break i came back to my room and heated up a poptart to get me through to lunch.

we have our tow labs early in the morning so that we dont have to be out on the "flight deck" at noon for several hours. it gets mighty hot down here lol. Im a natural at driving them tow tractors by the way lol.

i got a fridge and microwave, i bought my own tv but there are tv in common areas well thats how it is as subscol
