Kind of slow here, thought I would post some interesting reading.

This happened while I was on board, cleaning the berthing area, when we were called away due to the GQ and Collission alarms....

WASHINGTON--Two U.S. Navy warships, under orders to assert international navigation rights, were deliberately bumped by two Soviet warships yesterday after moving within 12 miles of Russia's Black Sea coastline, the Pentagon said.

No one was injured and damage to the two ships was described as light. But the administration immediately lodged a strong protest with the Soviet ambassador here, saying the vessels had done nothing provocative and were operating in accord with international law.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 12— Two Soviet Navy vessels deliberately bumped two United States warships in the Black Sea today as the American vessels sailed through waters claimed by the Soviet Union, the Pentagon said.

The unusual Soviet response to the passage by American ships 7 to 10 miles off the Crimean peninsula prompted a diplomatic protest from the Reagan Administration, which said the United States Navy had done nothing to provoke the Soviet Union.

Before bumping us, the ship lowered it's anchor, which when they made contact, actually pierced the skin of the Caron. Once that happened, we were dragging this ship beside us with about a 45 degree list.

They started fighting pretty hard to seperate from us in order to not be sunk or seriously damaged by their own actions. It took about 5 minutes or so but they managed to do it.

Should'a ordered a flank bell and brought them back to home port with ya !! The scrap iron could've funded a heck of a Steel Beach picnic !!

People don't believe this kind of stuff still happens ...
