hello and some ?'s

hello everyone and future fellow shipmates, my name is Dep recruit Callahan. I ship out of Boston on 20100603 much easily said june 3rd. Im going in e3 for having an AS degree and i am in charge of my DEP pool at my recruiting station, so im the mock CO. i still have a bit of a wait before i ship but i have been doing some PT and studying very frequently.

my questions are...

1. as far as running i know i pass my IFA for 13:30 no problem, however i was curious as to what time i need to make at basic being 23 years old, how often you run, what distances should i expect at basic, and at what kind of a pace. (running is the only aspect of basic that i have worries and concerns with)

2. how hard is it to get a secret clearence. ive been unemployed for over a year so since that time ive voluntarily repossesed my vehicle. and have two bad debts as well .. all in the amount of about 7,500-8,000 ... all of these people are aware im in Dep and with continue with payment as soon as i start getting basic pay.

Welcome to the site and to the Navy !!

It sounds like you have a legitimate reason to have the bad debts ... that should carry you through on a clearance. When they can see that you paid your bills until you lost your job and that you aren't just a deadbeat not wanting to pay them ... you should be fine.

i figured that would be the case as long as i commit to make regular payments while in the navy i should be fine i just wanted to get some other thoughts. so thank you!
