- More than 700 Sailors aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) conduct a tribute to honor the ship’s 38 years of distinguished commissioned service while transiting to Boston for a farewell port visit. Kennedy's arrival will mark its last port visit and will afford the people of Boston the opportunity to say goodbye to a ship and crew with whom they have maintained close relations since its christening in 1967. Mayport is where Brandon is and he arrived there the same day the Kennedy was decommissioned......

Hi Kristie,

How does your son like Mayport? My son is in school right now in San Diego and that was one of the bases he is considering. He is looking in to different bases, he is in schooling for his job title until November, so he has a lot of time to ask around. Thanks for any help.

He likes it so far.....it is next door to Jacksonville and the beach is right there so no complaints so far.....if you want we might try to get them hooked up via email so they can talk....

My son is stationeed in JAX for the lat 4 yrs. He likes it. They will just be over the bridge and down the way from him.
We have visited him there it is nice

Thanks for the info. I will talk to Michael and ask him if he wants more info. I think it would be great to talk to somebody out on that side, all he hears about is San Diego. He's just not sure on where to go yet, thankfully he has time to check into everything. Thanks for your help.
