Im shipping out next week!

So I was in MEPS for 12 hours today, was the last guy called in. I landed myself STG, Sonar Technician, and I ship out next Wednesday!

I am absolutely stoked. I'm going back and forth between absolute excitement and an "oh shit" state.

Anywho, I am DEPed in and good to go.

Yea I think I got really lucky. A lot of guys arent shipping until feb or march. The lady kept asking me if I was willing to leave "soon" until I flat out told her "I am willing to leave tomorrow." Then she dropped the 8th on my lap and that was that. I am excited as hell. Its been a long time coming. About 6 months since I made the choice to talk to a recruiter.

Now I dont know how much of this is bull, but my recruiter mentioned that my position is one in big need of people at the moment so advancements may come very quickly If I stay motivated and dedicated. So if that is in fact true I plan on climbing the ranks as quickly as possible.

STG CREO (Career Reenlistment Objectives) for 2009
STG E4-1 E5-2 E6-3
(1) "CREO 1" = UNDERMANNED
(2) "CREO 2" = MANNED AT DESIRED LEVELS
(3) "CREO 3" = OVERMANNED
so pretty much your E4 is probably 99%. I know IT is also 2 and we are like 70s or 80s% for E6 is overmanned so it drops down pretty low meaning your probably going to take the test a few times.

Yea I am "trying" to do the same here. I dunno though, every night I cant focus on any one thing because I just keep thinking about boot and stuff to memorize and such. I passed my PQS this morning so now its just waiting for Wednesday to hit.

I am no longer nervous, just trying to relax and keep my mind occupied.

I should clarify. I messed up when stating the 8th (It was a date everyone kept mentioning...) I am actually shipping on the 9th, Wednesday. This is the date listed on my contract. I get the feeling some of those MEPS chaps were confused.

It was all at the end of the workday though so I can forgive them that.

Ok apparently I am shipping out right now instead of tomorrow morning. Just got the call to get to MEPS asap. recruiter just found out too. Kinda sucks cus i stayed up a bit late today, at my sisters house. I guess I gotta get used to this haha.
