Welcome. Glad you found the site and as a mom I am glad you are bored. Also, glad you only have two months left. My son is a MA stationed in Florida. Haven't seen him in almost six months but hopefully he will get leave real soon. How long have you been there? Take care of yourself and thanks for all you do.

Hi there,

Welcome to the site! It is nice to know you are bored (atleast from a Mom's viewpoint). I'm glad that you found us..........I bet you can't wait for those two months to be up!!!!!! Are there any "stories" you can tell us (of course only things you can speak of)?

My son is in Coronado, CA..........He was/is in the BUD/s Training. About a week or two ago, he fell and broke a bone in his wrist. He just had surgery this past Tuesday to place a screw in the bone. Now we have to wait for him to heal to find out exactly what will happen. If he can continue with the training or not.

Please stay safe! Thank you for choosing to serve our country!!

Hello Navy GM -

Welcome to this wonderful site and thank you for all you and your fellow sailors are doing for our country.

Both my son and daughter are on the delayed entry program. My son will ship out to boot on May 22nd and my daughter on July 31st. I hope your two months will fly by as I know our short time with the kids before they leave will.

I hope you'll find the posts and information here helpful and supportive and I wish you the best of luck while you are still in Iraq and hope you have a safe journey home.

i'm very jealous of your son, Melanie. my homeport is in Gulfport, Mississippi, which is close to pensacola. i've been down there a few times, and it is a great place. i'm sure your son is going to enjoy himself very much down there. that's actually the first place i'm heading when i get off the plane in MS when i get back, but i'm going to stay away from the beach...i've seen enough sand for now.

Yes, I'm very jealous of my son too! I love Pensacola! I grew up in Baton Rouge and am very familiar with the gulf coast. Lots of great memories. I talked to my son Friday night and he is just loving it! I think he is still "thawing out" from Great Lakes! He doesn't know when he'll start his classes, as so much of the schools are backed up right now, hoping he'll be there a while so we can go visit!

He called early this morning and woke me up -- asking me to please send his civilian clothes -- he can start wearing them this Saturday. Wishing you best!

Bryan,
I just talked to her - she is coming home Thursday - cannot wait to see her - does the military always takes in time in issuing orders? She still has not idea when she leaves for Italy and she graduates tomorrow and flying home for a week on Thursday. Any suggestion for her that you might have would be most appreciated.

If you want to email me please feel free to do so - ccrivera@hgvc.com. I meet another mom who's son is over there some where - he is coming back in April he is a Seebea and his unit is from Gulfport.

Talk to you soon - take care and stay safe!!!!

Welcome to the site. How are things going for you? Hopefully 2 months will go by fast. Please stay safe. You will be back home soon.
My gson is stationed in Norfolk, VA, on the USS Alaska. He would love to see some action but will be in Norfolk for about one year(of course that's subject to change)
My other gson will be leaving for boot camp 4/10/07, he will be a GM in the CG.
Best of luck to you and thank you for serving our country. We are all 100% in support of our military.

Hi Bryan ~

Saying a prayer here for your safe return! You must be down to a month now eh? Thank you so much for all that you do. My son is finishing up his training in the Nuclear Propulsion Program at Ballston Spa, NY. and we are waiting to see where his next duty station will be. Hopefully somewhere on the west coast! I think it's great that you can stay connected with us folks back home through the website. Ain't technology grand?!

A quick hello to all the Nuke parents/parents-to-be I see out there! It's a hard school..but the Navy doesn't want to see any of these sailors fail...so tell your sailors to hang tough! Trust me...the year and a 1/2 will go by quicker than you and they imagined.

Take care all!

Hi there GM, from yet another Navy Mom! First, gotta thank you for your service - and know that there are far more people here at home who support you all, than those "others".

My son is currently deployed with the Nassau but won't be gone long at all.

I'm so glad to hear that you're on the short end of the countdown. I too, must say that as a Mom, I'm REALLY glad you're bored! LOL....I know you're doing your job, and I thank you for that. You all make us SO proud as Americans and Patriots. God bless you, sweetie - will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for your safe return home.

(And as far as your post last month saying you were glad to see parents supporting their Navy kids....lol....I'm in THREE Navy forums......let me tell you, Navy Moms have got it going ON!!)

Oh - so you saw some of his pictures!! All I know is that if he is happy, then I'm happy.

He was going to come home the end of June, but instead is going to Australia. He asked me if I was ok with that. I told him "you come home and I'll kick your butt to Australia! Go see the world and enjoy it!!!" Just hope he doesn't send his sister a koala bear!! HA!!

And Bryan - I see you have not lost your sense of humor - not wanting to see a beach once you come home! Seen enough sand already! Very good!!

Take care!

Hi there, hope you are well and safe. Sometimes it's not a bad thing to be bored. My twenty year old dtr is in Great Lakes and is scheduled for PIR 4-13-07. As a parent, I cannot begin to tell you how proud we are of our kids at this point. She will be attending A school there as well. She is going to be an HM?? hospital corpman? Hope that is right. I'm still learning. Good luck to you, we are all behind you very brave men and women!
