MOMS TRY TO TAKE STING OUT OF HOLIDAYS AT SEA

The carrier Nimitz and its strike group will spend Christmas at sea this year after Navy commanders extended their deployment to eight months // Navy

There are few feelings worse than being far away from your family during the holidays, but that’s what the sailors of the Nimitz carrier strike group have to look forward to this year after the Navy extended their deployment to eight months. The ship relieved the carrier Ronald Reagan in the Gulf of Oman on Friday and launched its first sorties against targets in Afghanistan.

A group of Navy moms isn’t taking this lying down, however. A group of moms plan to send Christmas Stockings filled w/ candy, snacks, etc and holiday goody bags to the Nimitz strike group to help make its deployed Christmas a little brighter

oof thats sad to hear. I was told that captains' and such make it a point to do the best they can to make sure the ship is ported for the holidays. after all they want to see family too.

PS. the bottom of your post says edited by me.. I didn't believe it when it said edit So I clicked the button. Rest assured I changed nothing.

Unfortunately the Nimitz will be deployed during and for a quite a while after the holidays. I don't know if the Captain gets to leave the ship during a deployment or not but that certainly wouldn't be fair to the crew.
