Hey guys and gals. I just got informed by my recruiter that they might be pushing my ship out date up from the 1st of march to the 26th of feb. Anyone have any experience with this? I was planning on spending that week with my family and friends but now Im nervous to make plans..

I dont think they can do that. Its part of the paperwork you sign. You CAN go sooner, if you want. But Im pretty sure they Cant MAKE you go sooner.

He didn't give us a chance to say Goodbye!

He left us without saying if they moved him up or not.

If your family is on here, please let us know how he is doing.

I wanted to post a reply to this question because my son was also one who received a call from his recruiter and left early for boot camp. Jeff was to leave on the 20th (July 06) and we received a call mid morning on the 18th with a rather apologetic recruiter saying, "He needs to leave today." We live six hours away from MEPS so had all of two hours to say goodbyes, pack and get on the road. I do think we could have gotten out of this as it was clearly a mix up on the recruiter's part, but that didn't seem a good way to begin one's time in the Navy. We opted to suck it up and make the best of it. It sure added some excitement to our last day together! I was really proud of my son who took it all in stride. I wonder how the sailor is doing who began this thread. Has anyone heard from him?

Jennifer said she thought she seen him at BC, but he didn't recgonize her.
He should have already graduated Boot camp. Hopefully he will report in here and let us know how it went.

That actually stinks! When I was with Matt at the airport leaving for BC there was a boy there that did not get to say good-bye to his mom. His recruiter called him in the morning and said get ready.

Needless to say his mom was at work, I felt really bad for him and her. So I gave him my phone and said call her; he was concerned because she was a teacher and he didnt' want to interupt her class...are you kidding! Call!

They finally did get to talk to each other, I would have been so sad...sometimes I really think the recruiters don't think about the families...idk..

Sorry I didnt get a chance to say goodbye, the last couple of days before I left were super hectic. I survived though and am in the paradise that is A-school. I did see FutureIT there but they had pretty strict rules about talking to people and I did enough 8 counts as it was so I hope she forgives me for not saying hi :) I ended up leaving on the day I was supposed to and I graduated on the day I was supposed to so everything went well for me at Bootcamp. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I would mention specifics but I'm sure you can all imagine the kind of language the RDCs use and this is a family forum. Thank you all for the support before I left, and I will be sure to check in more often!

Well, my son was supposed to leave February 21, 2007 and got a call in early February saying the day was the 14th. And, the 14th it was. So, it happens, why, I don't know.

My son also said is way more fun then he thought it would be. He was in an intergrated Division and he had six RDC's that he thought were very cool. The RDC's said the intergrated Divisions are more like High School with the drama of male/female who likes who stuff  .
