Jennifer,

I'll ask my son for some advice when I talk to him. I'm sure I'll be talking to him this weekend if not before. Unfortunately, he fell this past Friday and broke his wrist. He will be having surgery on it this coming Tuesday. We don't know what this will do for his SEALs Training!

Anyway, as I am sure I will be talking to him.........I'll ask him for any advice.........about the 900 Division, what, in his opinion, is the best thing(s) to volunteer for, etc.

Good Luck to you and Thank you for choosing to serve our country!

Jennifer,
Hello, Congratulations on going to the Navy. That is awsome and THANK YOU for serving our country. My daughter, Alyssa is currenlty in MA school in TX. She will be off to Italy soon for her first duty stations. I know when she left for basic - you will first have doubts and HATE IT but keep your chin up and think positive and count down each day as one day closer to PIR. You will do great and will love it. Basic is the hardest part. As for the 900 divisions - these are "Special" divisions. Alyssa was in 953 - flag / drum division. These division participate in 3 graduations plus their own. Alyssa was the RPOC of her division - what a great honor to be chosen for division like that. Tell your family and friend to write plenty of letters to you and send pictures to you to - that helped Alyssa.

Hope that helps - I know you will do great and as each day passes you are one day closer to that awsome PIR!!!!

Take care - chat with you soon!!
Carrie,
Alyssa's Mom

Hi Jennifer,

I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you. I am talking to my son right now.

He says for HIM, he liked either MA or ARPOC................He was MA

He didn't think much of the Yeoman for himself as that is an admin, meaning alot of paperwork. But, if you like paperwork, then it would be just fine for you.

900 Divisions graduate a week earlier than the rest of them. If you are in a 900 division, then every Saturday, instead of normal BC stuff, you spend that day practicing your routines and things.

Hope this helps...................Good luck to you,

one thing to remember is the RDC's don't really hate you. they are getting paid to do what they do, so don't take anything they say to heart. as for having a job, such as yeoman, during boot camp, it's kind of pointless. it won't matter after you get out. if i told someone i was the arpoc or yeoman or something now, a year and a half or so out of boot camp, i'd get ripped on. all that matters is that you make it through, and give the RDC's a good impression, and you might get promoted. if you're going in e-2, they won't promote you to e-3, the promote e-1's normally. but as for advice, as far as your navy career goes, boot camp is just something you have to go through, and all it will say on your record, no matter what, is that you completeed it.

Eh, then I may just stick with the 900 Division, then...

My son agrees that having a job during BC doesn't do anything for you once you are finished with BC - I just forgot to add that :(. Good luck to you and thank you for serving our country!

It does help to kill time keeping your mind off of the mundane stuff.
