Im going to be training to be an Aerographers Mate.
going to A school to learn Meteorology and Oceanography. I could be on a plane flying through hurricanes. Or on a ship, making weather maps for the navigation crew. If im on a ship, i get to be on the bridge. With the skipper =P. Apparently, from what I have read, there are only about 1000 of us in the entire fleet.

Yea, Im working on those now to. Once I have those down, I will take my PRT and get all my stuff signed of by the XO. So I can take the advancement test at bootcamp.

That's cool...I'm already E-2 cause I went to college first..I guess that's an advantage of bein older. I'm shootin to graduate E-3, but we'll see...

i don't know what your recruiters are telling you, but all you have to do to be advanced at boot camp is pass a test you'll take in the first week or two, which is general orders, rank and recognition, stuff like that. then you'll have to pass a PRT that you'll take as soon as your division is medically cleared, which will be within a week or so of being at boot camp. if you pass all of that, you'll be bumped to e-2. if you come into boot camp knowing the general orders and what not, it'll be good for you. a little less heat from the RDC's. just know boot camp and A school don't mean that much. it's how you do at your first command that really counts. as long as you graduate boot and A school, you're good to go. good luck. and remember, the number zero is pronounced "zero" not "oh" and never talk in parade rest. good luck!

Apparently, it just recently became a requirement for all DEPPERS to complete the stuff before leaving for bootcamp. And Im not sure if its true, but they might have changed the rules on taking the advancement test. It is only for people who get the paperwork signed off before hand, by the District Recruiting XO.

wow. that's pretty crazy. i think it's kind of lame that they're making you learn to be a sailor before going to boot camp though. you really do learn everything there, i went into boot knowing nothing about the military or navy, and now i'm good to go. but, either way, go for it, it's a big advantage to come out of there e-2 or e-3

I didn't have to pass off all of that stuff. Guess cause I can't advance till boot camp. Pengilum, you still have a while to go, though! You'll learn them! I still can't get the last one all the way.
