What does everyone think of the new working and service uniforms.
I personally think they're great - my recruiter did a catwalk twirl to model it for our DEP group. XD
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about them though. Camo at sea? Hm.

the utilities and coveralls the Camo's replaced were blue as well. BUT, I guarun-damn-tee you they wont ever have us wearing huge orange suits.
They cant put some device that explodes ink on impact of water because you would come out with green laundry.
They cant make the uniforms lighter to float, because then you wouldn't be fully protected. or possibly not fire retardent.
I love BOTH of the new uniforms I own the NSU (khaki & black) and I will be purchasing the Cami's in the next upcoming month.

The camo looks neat. I saw a guy wearing it when I went to MEPS but only then, maybe my recruiters will show us during our training meeting...
* Has no other real input on the matter. :< *

i saw someone at MEPS with the new NWUs. I like the look a lot but i havent seen anyone else wear them. Didnt they start rolling them out already though to replace the only NWUs?

your post confused me. the NWU's are replacing the Utilities. the NSU's are replacing the working blues and summer whites

not from what i've heard. we are still allowed to wear coveralls on the ship, but utilities have till the end of the month

if they dont replace coveralls, I will be very happy.
however, I've only heard the opposite.

The NWUs are NOT replacing the coveralls. They were originally planning to make them replace the coveralls, but the Navy sailors shouted a resounding NO so they are not, in-fact, replacing coveralls.
The only issue I have had with my NWU is that the quality control in manufacturing them failed in the area of sewing on the buttons. They keep popping off in the wash. Very irritating. Overall, however, they are a much nicer uniform, now you don't need to waste time ironing a uniform that is going to get dirty by the end of the day anyway. They hide stains so nice you can't even tell a pen exploded in my pocket. Hehehe. Try that with utilities and see what happens. Ick.
As for the camo pattern... well, I figure the main reason for that is so we are easily identified as military. There are a million and one civilian outfits who wear light blue shirts and dark blue pants, but how many civilian companies dress up in a camo pattern? There ya go.
So yeah, to re-iterate, they are NOT replacing the coveralls.

the button thing is very irritating, i agree. when i got mine, my wife's mom was a seamstress, so i had her reinforce all of them! now, no worries!

Wait, what're the coveralls?! You didn't show a pic in my thread, Mac! Is it basically exactly as the name implies? lol

The coveralls are the ones my son wears most while at work on the ship..he being a nuke feels this is the best for how much physical work they do as MM's..they are cheap, in comparison to all the other ones, as they get paint on them, get burned from the steam pipes, etc. When he left for deployment, he took 14 pairs of them with him!

The coveralls look practical and maintainable.
But the NWU's are just sexy.
