I hope thats not your actual opinion. if it is, good thing your not in the NAVY yet. You'll learn very fast that everybody's job is very important.
what are you talking friend get into army is not stupid. benefits to joining navy:
* Full medical coverage and care in Navy or civilian facilities
* Full dental coverage and care from Navy professionals
Your other benefits upon joining the Navy include:
* Discounted travel
* 30 days paid vacation each year
* Generous educational benefits
* $250,000 life insurance policy for $16 a month or a $400,000 life insurance policy for $26 a month
* Generous retirement income plus 401k-like Thrift Savings Plan
* Opportunities to earn advanced degrees at Navy expense
i think a normal person to get into jobs firstly thinks about satisfaction of basic requirement of his life & navy provides all that. so there no place for stupidity here

Was pretty funny lol...But every branch has it's up and downs.
Speaking as a Veteran Soldier and Sailor, I have to say that your comment is absolutely insulting and stupid. As Steve pointed out EVERY job in the military has its' job in supporting the mission of the Department of Defense, which is to defend our great country from all enemies foreign and domestic.
Please take your drivel elsewhere if that is the mindset you are trying to bring into our U.S. Military.
EDIT TO ADD ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Your post has really got me hot under the collar and I AM calming down, but need to add these comments.
Not all Soldiers are Infantry. We are all taught basic infantry tactics during basic, however, the real hero's of the Army are the people who sought out and became infantry types (MOS 11B) and the medics (This also applies to the Marines and Navy Corpsmen). I learned last night that MM1 was one of those Soldiers since he was an Infantryman. Those are the guys that KNOW that they have a higher chance of getting killed than Sailors in the Navy or Airmen in the Air Force. Note that I said a higher chance, not that it was impossible/negligible to get killed in the Navy or the Air Force.
You should be proud that you are joining the greatest Navy in the world. Nothing wrong with that, however, if you need to tear down the guys that didn't agree with your choice of military branches, you are of the wrong caliber of person to join either my Navy or Army as all branches of the services sacrifice in some way or another, just depends upon the service and it's particular mission.
Inter-Service rivalry has always been there and always will, however, you have neither the experience nor the time in service to know how any of the services operate in order to join said rivalry, leave that to those that are Active Duty and to the Veterans.
Please do not consider this a beat down or a flame but merely a lesson (although a strong one) in humility.

You know what would be funny if you ended up like my bf and got attached with and deployed with the Army. Maybe it would give you a new prospective. I dont know since my sailors over there and has already hit one IED and by the grace of God he is ok still I didnt find that video funny. Some people would argue being stuck on a ship would suck its all perspective.
Being stuck on a ship has it's up's and down's. I really, really, really enjoyed it. However, there's always home and your wife pulling on you too. That would be the downside.
What the F is this? Seriously, I really, REALLY hope that your joking. I have a cousin that's a Major in the 82nd and I respect the hell out of him...even though he is an Officer.
There will always be an Army, Navy, Air Force inter-service rivaly...especially during college football. But at the end of the day don't forget this little nugget of info that I will bestowe on your little mind.
WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE. And no one's job is more important that the others.
