Start packing. . . Oh, that's right you don't have to pack, they will give you everything they want you to have.

You will have to have your mom p.m. us your address so we can write to you, we don't expect any return letters from you, just posting's from your mom stating how you are doing. Same goes to you IWannabeanfc . your mom might want to join us on some of the boards for moral support.

Don't forget to bring a phone card, stamps, and addresses of folks you will write to. My son didn't take a bag, he wore his oldest clothes and shoes, stuff he didn't mind throwing out/donating. This way he wouldn't have to pay to ship items back home. I got him a phone card from Kroger (it had no upcharges) -- some of the prepaid phone cards charge up extra minutes if you use a pay phone -- so read the fine print on the back of the card before you purchase; instead of carrying an address book, I typed up all of the names, addresses, & phone numbers of the folks he was planning to stay in touch with -- I printed it in a small font and then laminated it, he kept it in his wallet. In the first week or so of boot camp those "Chiefs" will be looking you over very closely, looking for good leadership, so put your best foot forward in the very beginning. God bless you and good luck to you both. Also, make sure your parents find this forum and identify themselves so that we can keep with you guys and perhaps get your addresses at RTC so we write you a line or two. My son told me that was the highlight of each day -- receiving mail, I wrote him everyday and had all family and friends write him as well.

My Mom's on here, her name's Kristie. She hasn't been on in forever though. About the calling cards..I'm goin to make sure mine is activated BEFORE I leave so I don't waste time gettin it goin. I have some addresses from friends and stuff, but I really don't think I'll have much time to write them..so I hope they don't kill me, lol. I'm very excited to leave, but I'm goin to miss my family!! But I wouldn't pass this up for anything. It's such an amazing opportunity!
