wow I can't believe there is only 2 weeks left till PIR and I get to see my son. I'm sure these next 2 weeks will fly by fast

I have a question in his recent letter he wrote something about flagging two event and if they flag 2 more they get a "Battle E" flag sounds important just like to know what it is and what they have to do to earn it. he also said they only have a few inspection, the final PFA and battle station left to do :smile: I think they should work on there marching he said they suck at it lol

He said they did pictures on Tuesday do they send them to me or does he get them???

As for the Battle E flag it bassically simbolizes that they earned all the possible flags with a I think it is a 4.0 or higher in the grading scale. Not entirly sure on the grading thing tho. But it is if you earned all the flags.

They have their last uniform inspect wich will be in dress uniform as well as the last suprise compartment inspection.

woa, battle E? Battle E is the lowest; means the division did so so. It goes Battle E, something in the middle, then Honor or something of the liking. In the Real Navy, Battle E means your ship is the best in its battle group.

well guess that isn't good he did say they sucks at marching hope they do better before graduation

your answer made me feel better then the previous...anything earned I think is a big deal for them as a whole division on whatever it is they are trying to accomplish

Battle E is a good thing ... there are worse, believe me.

But as with any award in the Navy .... Sailors are always trying to do better. Honor company is what they are all striving so hard for and because of that .... the achievement of the Battle E has been watered down (as evidenced by MacSteve).

This is similar to what happened to our warfare pins that we wear on our uniforms. It used to be something that only they most motivated sailors pushed themselves to achieve. When you saw someone wearing the Enlisted Surface Warfare pin you knew this was a professional sailor ... the top 10% of the Surface Navy.

Now ... it is a requirement for advancement and everyone has to get it. So much for setting yourself apart from the rest.
Sailors like CousinIT have now had to start working on their SECOND warfare qualification to set themselves apart.
