Well, just as everything I have read -- the PIR was very moving. It was an awesome ceremony!!! I am so proud of my son and all of the new sailors!!! The drums and the big door opening -- it was so cool!! Once his division 069 was getting near us, I began to panic thinking I couldn't find him -- then there he was, the very last one, the tallest in his division -- my husband spotted him, as my son had told him the taller recruits are in the back. I get emotional just thinking about it all. When it was over and we met up with him, he had tears in his eyes -- I think we all did!! The weather was so, so cold -- the temp. high on Saturday was 0!!! That wind was just too cold to get out and about. Fortunately, our hotel was very roomy -- we stayed at the Residence Inn, it has the little living area and kitchen between the two rooms -- I wanted this in case we felt like hanging out -- and we did. It was just so nice to have my family all together again. We were fortuante that his duty was on Sunday -- we had him all day Friday (after PIR) and all Saturday. Our return flight back to Houston was Sunday a.m. He still doesn't know where he's going to A school -- thought it was Pensacola, but has heard that they are backed up. He said he thought he would find out this Tuesday. So hopefully we'll hear from him soon. I'm just so proud of my son!!!

I'm interested in what your sons rate is going to be. My son is going in as an aviation electronic type. He's supposed to be going to Pensacola, but I've also heard that theirs a backlog of aviation types down there.
He just went to GL on Tuesday, and I've been following the weather over there. We aren't the warmest part of the country, but in the last 3 1/2 weeks, he spent 10 days in Hawaii, then we've been in the 50's. I think he's definately going through a little cold therapy right now.
Congratulations to you and your son. Bravo Zulu to you all.
