Hey all. I am in DEP at the age of 33. I have been in since Jan. of this year. I was wondering what thoughts or advice you might have for someone my age. Can I go somewhere in the military at this age?
I would appreciate your advice or input.

Be prepared to deal with people who will be the same rank as you but may not have the patience and judgement as you.
Know that you may be the same age as folks of much higher rank than you and will expect for you to conduct yourself as a professional when you find an occasion that you disagree with their decisions. (Not a matter of IF ... a matter of WHEN this happens).
The younger folks will more than likely submit to your age for guidance when things get tough in bootcamp ... be prepared to help them understand the meaning behind some of these issues and to coach them along when NONE of you undertand.
They will probably even call you "Gramps" ... we had a gramps in my bootcamp company ... he was 29 years old.

What about as far as carreer wise? Can someone my age still advance like a younger guy may be able to?

sure. advancement is all about having a good attitude, good uniform, and knowing your shit.

Age has nothing to do with advancement whatsoever. All about how well you know your job, your performance and a little bit of luck !!
