Hey everyone,
Joined the Navy a short time ago. leaving for basic in three weeks. My rate is Aviation Ordnanceman and im excited to get started on my new career. just wanted to say hi to all you guys!

Thanks for joining and have fun at basic training! My son is an AO so I've learned a few things about it, might be able to answer a question or two!

Welcome AO-Alex.... glad to have you aboard.

ITsonlyme943 son just returned in April from a 7 1/2 month deployment on USS Theodore Roosevelt (Carrier).
I am sure he could tell you lots... from the past few months.

yeah im glad i get to leave like a month and a half after becoming DEP. only 20 days left!!!!

He was on a carrier for 7 1/2 months but like KYmom said they're back on the beach now. Overall I would say he likes it a lot, he has a few gripes but who doesn't complain about their job every now and then!

His schooling was quite intense, after basic he went to Pensacola FL for B(?) school and then up to NAS Oceana in Va Beach for more training and was assigned to a squadron. He's learned so much and my head just spins when he tells me about it because for the most part I have no idea what the heck he's talking about!

They do work long hours, especially when deployed, and it is a physically demanding job but they do get to be topside and see the sun!

thats great. you i will be ging there also for A school. and im really looking forward to being on deck and getting to see everything. ive heard NAS is a really big and cool base to be at.

its huge.
the Naval Aviation Museum up there is also crazy.
