Hello everybody. I recently joined the U.S. Navy in February. My job title is Master at Arms and I don't leave to go to bootcamp for nine months. I am going to try and stay fit since I just recently graduated high school and better prepare myself for the fleet. I just made the athletic petty officer in dep and enjoy the pressure of everyones eyes waiting for me to help them out and better prepare them. If there is anybody with any tips to help me get ready, please let me know.

Congrats on getting in. I definately reccommend getting a copy of the bluejackets manual. It's everything your supposed to know and I found a copy used for 9 dollars (worth it). I also picked up the NAVY Boot Camp guide http://www.usnavybootcamp.com/index.htm that was definately worth the cost. (I got it as a pdf). The best advice I can give is don't be afraid to ask. I still haven't left for Basic, but I already fell better prepared because I asked other NAVY and military folk for help. I went to my local ROTC station and asked to borrow a college text book on information for my rate (AV). A buddy of mine who had been in the army showed me all his shoe shining secrets. My uncle gave me a lesson on basic seamans knots. Anything you can do to get ahead of the game will help. And keep up on the PT.
