I doubt it. From what I heard those are going out from the top down, recruits will be the last to get them. My son just ordered his but I think he was told not to wear them yet.

Of course I could be completely wrong...

Also it depends on each command, my son is on the Nimitz and he wont get his until they get back next year from deployment.

The scuttlebutt around NSTC is that they've already started handing the NWU's to the NEWEST recruits.

The new recruits may get the new uniforms...but it will still be up to your command IF you can wear them!

blach over here in europe we arent authorized (unless coming from a previous command where it was authorized) to wear them til late next year.

My son Evan the sailor had to buy the blue cammies last month , and had to stand inspection wearing them on the USS Carl Vinson a week or two ago. I don't know if they can still wear the old working uniform or not.

It seems that my Sailor Evan has quite a closet full of different new and old uniforms. He is a Machinist Mate on the USS Carl Vinson, but volunteered to go security for a year. He was issued at no cost the green Marine type BDU to wear while on security and was wearing that on duty. Maybe he still is, but I haven't asked him. Then the new blue BDU, whew! What about the new khaki colored "working whites"? What is going on with them?

The khakis do look sharp but like I said before they look too much like the Marine khakis.

My son said the new khakis replace the working white and blue...BLAHHHHH. His main uniform is the blue coveralls, that is all they ever wear in the nuke department.

if you have the new working khaki's, throw away your working blues and whites. no point in having them.

Just got an email from the command today saying the NWU's are authorized here :D. However they wont be mandatory (or sold here) until december 2010 (sold ~ september).

that means I can take my uniform allowance this year, buy some nice new boots, and put the rest in my piggy bank. YAAY! :)

they just came in up here and a i bought a whole set; parka and liner included. I love it!

My brother is on the Carl Vinson, and when he was home for x-mas he said that he and the other guys had put in an order for them but they had to wait to wear them until given the go ahead. I def. like them better then the other services cammi colors though.
