Welcome to the boards! Glad to have you here.
My friend Steven said no one can really prepare themselves for boot camp. At least mentally.

Yes, work out! Also, study your rank and recognition, 11 General Orders and when you get there make sure you study your book!!! It's veryyy important that you do!!! Knowing the Sailor's Creed is also a good idea. Know all of that, and life will be so easy in bootcamp, I promise!!! I knew everything before I got there and I'm glad I did!!!

I have alot of that down packed. I have every thing in my Dep book singed off and will be taking a test with cheif to get E2. The only thing i am have trouble with is reconizing officer rank (the things they wear on there shoulder and collers) any one have any tips for rembering those.

Collar devices aren't too bad, just remember that in their case, the Gold is lower than the Silver ranks...that's how I did it. Like Ensign is the Gold bar...LTJG is the Silver bar...ect...make sure you know the Warrant Officer ones too...those are no fun!!!!

Draw them. If you look at them and just draw them out on paper and label them that way you will remember them easier... because of your handiwork! :) I remember everything I draw, lol. Its what helped me with tests in the past. See if that helps?

i have been in the DEP program for what seems like forever...i got my PQST book signed off after 2 months but i didnt get the E-2 advancement because i was a GED applicant and it was necessary. my rate is HT/SG. i love being the navy so far....my husband was a MT in the navy for 4 years and he was on a submarine and he loved it. but he told me the most important thing to study before boot camp is those 11 general orders and rank and recognition and being able to run that 1.5 mile run and work on your push ups and sit-ups. but i have a daughter so its going to be really hard leaving her for awhile, but i know my husband will take care of her.
