When will the recruits find out where they are definitely going to A School -- as my son has written, he said he could end up in 1 of 5 places?

I don't know when they know for sure. We were positive Jake would go to Pensacola all the way thru ATT and then he went to San Diego.

Corey didn't know for sure till the last minute, he went to Pensacola but was also poss going to California.

Iirc all the aviation A schools are back in Pensacola. The rash of hurricanes really did a number to that base and sent the schools out to the fleet locations.

Finally talked to my son last week and then again over the weekend. He is still at Great Lakes, but will leave for San Diego this Thursday -- he is totally pumped!!! I thought for sure he would go to Pensacola, and was sort of hoping so, as it is closer -- but he's totally thrilled about San Diego. So if he's happy, I'm happy!

My Jake really liked San Diego. He even enjoyed A school out there. He will return to San Diego after his deployment. Then do C school he hopes.

My son was telling me that there is a good chance that you will be stationed where you attend A School -- was this the case for you? I'm just trying to figure it all out!

Yes Jake is stationed at San Diego. He is attached to a helicopter squadron. Currently he is enjoying a 7 month cruise.LOL The email from him keep me sane. LOL

Well I live in San Diego, so Im kind of looking forward to my A-school being in Chicago. :-P

when I signed my papers, my A School was in GL, but as of now it's in Pensacola. So, we'll see what happens around May!

Our son, David, had AO "A" School in Pensacola. He is now stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in MD and will be heading to "C" School in Norfolk for about 6 weeks on April 7. He enjoyed some aspects of Pensacola, but not all, although he did very well there.

We knew Matt was going to MO from the time he signed, but then again he is a seabee (EO) I think that's where they all train..

I got my orders the day after Battlestations so thats when I found out where I was going. What day of training is he on?

He is currently in Pensacola finishing up his A School -- and will go on to C School in Mayport, Fl.

There is a website online that has the locations for every A school listed on it, by MOS. For instance, I am going into Nuclear Power, so I know my A school is in Goose Creek, SC. I cant find the stupid website now, but I will repost it for you guys. It also has alot of information for parents and stuff. I sent it to my mom, who is not happy about me joining, mostly because she was a USAF brat. lol

yea my sailor is in CT in a school. So there's different types of A schools? I know he is going to be a sonar tech .

There are schools for every rating/job in the navy, and they are in different locations, many seem to be in Great Lakes, some in Pensicola, and several other places.:smile:
