Hey everybody, old guy here, lol, served from 1978 thru 82, mainly in the Seventh Fleet. USS Oklahoma City CG-5; USS Blue Ridge LCC-19; and the USS Flint AE-32
I know the OK City was decommed, I'm a decomm plankowner, and is now a fast attack sub, seems odd to me as that old cruiser was such a fine ship. I crossdecked to the Blue Ridge when she became 7th Fleet Flagship in 1979, this was in Yokusuka JA. Finished up my hitch on the Flint, which is now a USNS reserve ship, I believe... lotta years gone by...
Much Thanks to all you current and future sailors, God Bless...

Welcome,
I am glad you joined us! We can always use input from someone that has been there and done that! My son is in Coronado undergoing BUD/s training. I don't have to worry about any deployments for him for atleast 10 more months...........then I'll be a mom on pins and needles! If you have any stories or wisdom for all us, please share.
Again, Welcome

Thanks Barbygirl, When next you speak to your son, pass on my best wishes and express how proud we all are of what he's doing for us all. My nephew is a CPO stationed up here in Everett, he just took a shore duty rotation after 9 years sea duty, including 3 trips to the WestPac/IO...
If your son is motivated enough to tackle BUD/S then he's more then motivated enough to make a career of it. The SEAL's are the best of the best in my mind. Believe that and have faith in him. God Bless, Chuck

Welcome Chuck,
It is always a blessing to have someone on here that has been there and done that. My son is in the Naval Reserves currently stationed near Pensacola and will be there until November of this year. Don't know if he will try to re-up as he had talked about the Navy as a career or if they will let him re-up. Unfortunately he signed the wrong contract for what he had planned on doing.

Wow Chuck,
9 years sea duty..........Does he still have "sea legs";) I bet he is glad to be back on land for awhile. Please thank him for serving our country!
I will certainly pass on your good wishes and kind words to my son! Thank you....Right now he is on roll back status. He had some slight trouble in 2nd phase, so they rolled him from his class to the next class. He will class up with them when they reach 2nd phase which should be sometime the end of February or the beginning of March. It has been nice to have a breather from his training (for me anyway, he doesn't think so). Atleast I have been able to relax the past month or so. It is hard being here instead of with him where I could cheer him on and he could hear me (well, maybe he could hear me lol)..........Atleast he knows that I am behind all the way! I have told him that when he is having some difficulty with his training to know that I am there behind him pushing him on, beside him urging him on, and in front of him cheering him on! He has been having trouble clearing his ears. That concerns me! He has finally been able to get one of them to clear, but so far not the other. Guess we will have to wait and see what happens when he classes up again!
Thanks for your support and your time serving our country!
