hello, I want to join the navy but have deep religious beliefs that require me to cover my hair with a scarf, and wear long sleeve shirts and long pants. Can I join and still have my rights to my religious beliefs.

I would appreciate any comments. I want to serve my country and have wanted to do so for many years. I have now finished my bachelors and want to go in as an officer.

The religious aspect of this is not going to be a problem at all ..... but in the regular Navy you would be required to wear the prescribed uniform of the day while on duty and while that may allow you to wear long sleeves and long pants ... the headgear would not be allowed in uniform except maybe while attending a religious function. On your off time ... it wouldn't be an issue.

HOWEVER ....... I would advise that you speak to an officer recruiter about some of the programs that they can offer to you. There are certain jobs that require you to wear civilian clothes instead of a uniform .... interpreters, intel, etc .... and the style of clothing that you mentioned may work to your advantage.

Go see them !!
