Right now I am in DEP and I am signed up for the AECF program. However I really want to do the SWCC program. Does anyboyd know by chance how I go about changing it. Do I just have to wait and sign up later or can I do it now?

From everything I have read, I believe it is best to change it while you are in DEP. It might mean that your ship date will change........It is my understanding that you don't want to ship until you have EVERYTHING you want in writing. I'll see if I can find some references of places you can check to verify this. I'll post as soon as I find them.

I don't think he will be.................even if he is, that is what he is there for! You don't want to go into the Navy without being in the job you want! So until you go to your swearing in at MEPS right before you ship out, he shouldn't have a problem with you changing your job. Just be prepared, like I said, it could possibly change your ship date.

Well I just talked to my recruter. His only concern with it was the PST. My running times havent been so good, and Ive never done the side stroke before. He is going to give me the PST before he does the paper work, He said though that if I dont do so hot on the PST and cant change now I can always apply after I get out of Boot Camp and am in much better physical shape.

while at Boot, all are invited to take the test for SW. I can not remember my exact week, but I believe it was week5.
Even after boot, i believe you can still take the test.
Good luck
Dave

Yes, you can take it again in BC. Did your recruiter show you what you have to do for the PST? Do you know when you are going to take it? Good Luck! Just remember, if this is something you REALLY want, don't give up!!!!!

Keep me posted,

Wow that is good news.. and by week 5 my running will be where it needs to be. Thats the only thing Im not confident in right now.. Do you think I should change my rate to Gunners Mate before I go, or wait untill I get accepted?

Start running now. Push ups and situps as well. Keep in mind the run portion of the PST is in boots not sneakers. You can apply and test as often as you like until your excepted.

Get the details of the test from your recruiter. Now here's a key. Do enough to pass in the middle of the min and max. If you only do the mins then they might not take you. If you max everything out once your in training they will look at that and determine your potential improvement. In otherwords they'll raise your goals making it very hard on you.
