:) HI there!
I just had a few questions for the wives that have their husbands currently in A-School.
Are you allowed to live with your husbands on base?
Did you have requirements you had to go through before you could live on base?
What were they, if any?
I know a couple who live on base for the army, they have house checks periodically... do they do that on your base as well?
And are there any wives who's husbands are going to Charleston, South Carolina for A-School?
:)

no women cannot go into mens rooms at A School.
no if you have a husband, i believe you will live off base w/ him.
room inspections all the time.
hope it helps.

Since I take it your boyfirend is going to nuke school...he will have to live on base...No he cannot have over night guests on base. They live in a barracks with other men and share bathrooms with another room. Those that are MARRIED and have the do***entation submitted to their cmmand at nuke school, will have on base housing, where the spouse can live AFTER a certain point in the A school. Most A schools are not long enough for the Navy to pay to move the spouce to be with them unless the school is at least 4 months long.
Hope this helps:cool:

Does anyone know how long ET "A" school is for sub guys? Wondering how long Adam will have to be there. I'm hoping to find out soon where he'll be located. Hoping somewhere within driving distance. I'm in school also, so works out well that he's going through all this at the same time. Makes me feel good that I wouldnt be able to stay with him until a certain point in A school. That way I dont have to wish I weren't in school...not like I could be with him anyway! That's how I'm trying to look at it!

He's going to be doing Nuke school for two years in Charleston, that's why I wanted to know. We aren't going to get married any time soon but I just wanted to know if we did get married what we had to do... and if we stayed in just the relationship if I could still see him if I lived on my own there.... like have him come to my apartment and study there if he needed to.
I want to be there for him through everything he has to go through (if only I could somehow hide myself on that submarine he wants to go on......... HAHA).
Thanks for the answers guys. I just really want to be with Matt and make it easier on him.

I won't let Matt drop. :P If I hear any hint of his dropping Nuke, I'll personally kick his butt back into gear... XD I know nothing about Physics... or just science stuff in general... but I can work up good study habits!! (I tutor at my school when I can). I know it's going to be hard... but unless he raises his voice to me, yelling straight at me (which he NEVER does) then I'll let him decide what he wants to do (but not without my own "suggestions")

I think he meant by dropping - didn't make the grade.
I don't think dropping is a choice, it's they drop you by not keeping a certain grade. But they are giving lots of warnings before hand and know when then are in grade trouble.

Oh!
Well, heck, I'll help with that too. I have enough energy to go around! Lmao! :) Lord knows, he'll need it!

Once he gets through his A school, he will be moved into the Petty Officers quarters where he will only have one room mate. He should by then have weekends allowed off base if he doesnt have mandatory study and or watch duty. From what my son told me...apartments there in the Goose Creek area are EXPENSIVE!

I looked them up. They are extremely expensive!
I'm hoping to find a couple of roommates to share rent with, lol!
I don't know what I'm going to end up doing. I'm not sure what to plan, haha.

in C school if you were married, you'll be living together.

Call the base housing office ... they can refer you to affordable housing based on the service members pay grade and marital status.
Cheers,

IT depends on the A-School For example NTTC you cannot but NNPTC you can. Best thing to do is go to that a-schools website and get some background info

If you are married before he goes Into a-school when does he fill out papers & tell them?
& if their school is 4 months long how does the waiting list work?
He will go to the PSD (Personnel Support Detachment) and provide a copy of the marriage certificate, as well as information on you, etc. You will not be put on a waiting list for housing until you actually arrive at his permanent duty station.
